Integrated Renewable Energy Systems for The Home
Thermomax solar water heating can be one of the best investments made in a solar energy technology. Around 30% of a household's energy costs come from water heating. To assess solar energy potential in your region please visit US Solar Radiation Data Site. Thermomax water heaters are capable of facilitating the same amount of heated water at a fraction of the energy expense compared to contemporary water heating systems. ![]() The internationally successful Mazdon system is developed specially for regions where water quality is unfavourable. Applications range from simple domestic hot water supply to commercial and industrial heating and cooling. The Mazdon system consists of a special “dry” connecting copper manifold, and stainless steel support with solar collector tubes. The system has been designed to ensure that the condenser or ‘heat exchanger’ at the top of each solar tube never comes into direct contact with the water circulating in the system, while assuring a highly efficient heat transfer process. ![]() The high quality insulation in the manifold ensures minimal heat loss. Each system is secured to the roof by means of stainless steel fixing brackets. In the case of a Flat roof, a stainless steel frame is available to fit the collector to an optimum angle. ![]() Two sizes of collectors are available in arrays of 20 and 30 tubes. Tubes can be adjusted to face the optimum orientation for maximum solar radiation absorption. Each solar tube is an independent collector with its own heat transfer mechanism ‘heatpipe’. Vacuum tube solar collectors are performing superior in unfavorable cloudy, windy and cold conditions too. The vacuum envelope eliminates weathering influences such as condensation and moisture that causes early deterioration of internal materials resulting in reduced performance and system failure. The Balance of System (BOS) is shown below.
Operation The Controller (18) will switch on the pump when the temperature at the collector sensor TC is higher than the return temperature TR by at least the pre selected (delta T) amount. The pump circulates a heat transfer liquid around the loop. Heat from the collector is transferred to the domestic water through the heat exchange coil in the tank. With the pump running, if delta T is not met, the pump will switch off. When a preset tank temperature is reached at Tmax, the controller switches off the pump. The check valve (non-return valve) prevents heat from the tank rising towards the collector should the tank be warmer (e.g. at night). ![]() Solar Pool Heating System Solar Space Heating System ![]()
